Ex-Arsenal captain Koscielny named sporting director of Lorient

Koscielny, 38, chose to hang up the boots in 2022.

Bordeaux became the centre-back's last club. Last summer, Koscielny became the assistant coach of FC Lorient's U17 team.

Now Lorient has announced Koscielny will have a much bigger role.

The 38-year-old will be the new sports director. His task will now be to lead the team back to Ligue 1.

Lorient fell out of the top flight last season.
