The young midfielder is going to Euro 2024 with his teammates, which begins on Friday in Germany.
While he admits that his rise up the ranks of senior football at such a young age has been overwhelming, he is keeping his feet on the ground.
“I am not the most outgoing … a bit of a loner,” he stated.
He added: “The way I have always felt - even throughout my time at Blackburn and when I was younger - is that I’ve always got that self-confidence that no matter who I am up against, I have got the ability to play my game and play well.
“I never thought I wouldn’t be able to cope but playing against the top teams helps.
“It’s then not a case of I think I can (cope) because I’m confident … it’s more that if I’ve played at that level, I know I can play at that level.”
