The former Roma transfer guru agreed to come back after falling out with president Danilo Iervolino last season.
He told Radio Serie A: "Danilo Iervolino is perhaps the last of the Italian entrepreneurs to put a lot of money into football. He does it with intelligence, with devotion because he is in love with the city and the team.

"It's sad that he is offended because he doesn't deserve this treatment. He is very intelligent and deserves respect as well as the fans owe him respect."
Then he added: "I am no one's lightning rod because he protects itself. I simply told the president that I will be with him in any emergency or any scenario. Salernitana will be my last team. I am not naive in saying what a mess I would have thrown myself into. And I find myself up to my neck in the mess and I'm enjoying it because I love Salerno."
