"I think and still believe that it was wrong. I left Liverpool to go to Real Madrid and that team was as average a team as it has been for the last 25 years. Then they went and won the Champions League.
"He was close to being the top goalscorer of all time, a really exciting Spurs team that with him in it would be in the top four. He would now be four games away from being a Bosman player and doing what he wants."
