"We wanted to go back as soon as possible to right the wrong of that defeat the sooner the better to be honest," admitted the 25-year-old.
"We had a chance to put that game to bed but weren't as clinical as we should have been.
"It was my first time at Old Trafford and you could feel the crowd, similar to Anfield. We have to manage that and control the game as much as we can."
Kelleher continues to deputise for injured No1 Alisson.
"There were discussions with the manager. It was clear I wanted to play as much as I could but with the circumstances, I had to stay and now I've got this big opportunity," he explains.
"It was very unfortunate Ali picked up an injury (hamstring) but it's been an opportunity for me. For sure, I don't think it could have worked out much better to be fair in terms of staying. I've obviously had a lot of games so I think the decision was the right one."
