The Hatters had the lead through Chiedozie Ogbene, before the hosts hit back via goals from Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott.

Van Dijk said: Very happy. I think we had plenty of opportunities in the first half and upfront we didn't do it, but it has been an eventful game.

Obviously I try to be important at set-pieces not only defensively but offensively as well. There was a couple of time I was free but the ball didn't come, but yes it was a good equaliser.

Nobody was satisfied with the first half. We were rushing in the final third and we didn't find the right pass.

"Obviously it is quite normal to become nervous upfront when you are not making the right decisions.

The reaction shown today was outstanding and something we need for the rest of the season - today was a big one.

I try to step up from the first second I think it was key to stay calm. Luton are a good side and they play football taking some risks and when we won the ball we had to punish them. Overall it's a great evening and time to focus on the weekend."
