Ward took over as sporting director at Liverpool when Michael Edwards left over 18 months. Edwards has since returned as Liverpool's football CEO.
Ward stepped down as sporting director after one season last summer.

Ward will be the new technical director of FSG, says the Athletic. He will be responsible for overseeing player development in FSG's football operations.
Ward will also oversee Liverpool's academy, FSG's loan department, elite player development strategies and the establishment of a football innovation department within FSG.
