The Spaniard came into the club as a serial Europa League winner, as he hoped to replicate that success in England.

Emery told reporters: "Europe is prestige. It is a way for a trophy and Europe is adding another objective in our season. It is very important for the players, the club, myself.

We are doing a very big effort to get it. This year we are progressively getting better in Europe because we started off by losing in Warsaw. Now is a key moment and a key opportunity to play thinking we can beat Ajax and get something important.

"We spoke this morning about being difficult as a favourite. Every team is going to try and catch you. They signed Henderson and that is the example.

They can add a player who is very experienced and he knows English teams well. He knows how we can play. He played fantastic there and tomorrow we have to be ready to stop the game plan."
