Watkins, whose team are fourth in the table under boss Unai Emery, also spoke about his time playing against Luton with Exeter in League Two.
I feel like 2-0 is such a dangerous scoreline because once a team gets back to 2-1 it gives them a bit of momentum, especially with a stadium like this with the atmosphere," Watkins said of the match, which Villa led 2-0 and then won 3-2 after a Luton fightback to 2-2.
The fans get behind them and give them real belief.
Obviously they came out quicker than us (in the second half), put us on the back foot straight away, won a few free-kicks and put the ball in the box. They made it very difficult for us. That is a massive three points but we should not let it get to that. We should see the game out, maybe score a third before they get one.
I was playing here with Exeter in League Two. I think Luton were top at the time and it was very difficult. That is when I was just trying to make a name for myself. I came here with Brentford and now I am here with Villa, fighting for the Champions League. It is an amazing story and I pinch myself all the time. I am just enjoying it.
It was similar at Griffin Park, compact and the fans really get behind you. I am used to it. Maybe some of the Spanish boys aren't used to atmospheres like this and playing on pitches that aren't top, top quality like Old Trafford and Villa Park. I am used to it. I just get on with it and don't moan because I have been here and done it."
I feel confident and if I miss a chance I am not thinking about it," Watkins added on his form.
It is a case of on to the next one. My mentality is to fully focus on the next action and believe in my ability. I am established in the Premier League now, right up there with the top goalscorers.
I have always had belief. I know when I get a chance I can finish it. That is what I am showing. I feel like I can definitely improve, that is the thing. There are things I am learning and getting better at with each game, feeling confident."
