Portland Timbers kick off their inaugural MLS campaign this weekend and winger Sal Zizzo plans to be there.
The 23-year old former Hannover 96 man injured his shoulder in a pre-season match for the Timbers just four days ago but is confident he will be on the pitch when the expansion franchise debuts against reigning MLS Cup winners Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
"I definitely want to play," said Zizzo, who was still wearing a sling for his arm on Tuesdat.
"The doctors were surprised at how quickly it was healing," Zizzo said. "I've got a few more days to get better."
Timbers coach John Spencer admitted he would give the one-time USA international until the last minute before making the call.
"It will be a gametime decision," Spencer said. "We'll see what happens."
