Chinese striker Zhang Shuo is set for his first training session with new club Newcastle Jets today.
The 26-year olds move to the Jets has been made difficult because of red tape but he has finally been made available by Indonesian club Persik Kediri and is free to play for the Jets this weekend.
However, coach Branko Culina says Zhang may not play against the Perth Glory on the weekend.
"I won't rule it out completely but I'll be very surprised if I did [use him against Perth]," he told the Newcastle Herald.
"He might be more advanced than I give him credit for but at this stage I'm not planning on him.
"I did give him a program I wanted him to follow so hopefully he's been doing something, but to be honest I expect him to be a little underdone."
