Zenit St Petersburg have confirmed they've had an approach to sign Roman Pavlyuchenko rejected by Tottenham.
Zenit president Alexander Dyukov has confirmed the club have pulled out of the race to sign the 28-year-old after their loan offer was rebuffed.
Speaking at the unveiling of new coach Luciano Spalletti, Dyukov said: "The management were considering the loan of Roman Pavlyuchenko for six months to the summer in order to decide whether to buy him.
"Unfortunately, this proposal did not suit Tottenham. We would not like to acquire the player now."
