Zenit St Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti has come clean over his rocky relationship with Roma captain Francesco Totti.
Totti expressed little in the way of disappointment when Spalletti actually left the club.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Spalletti said: "We had our arguments. Francesco and I wanted the same objective, the good of Roma. I wanted it one way and Francesco the other.
"Whoever goes to Roma knows that they have to manage the situation regarding Totti, because Francesco always puts himself in the middle of things."
One thing Totti and Spalletti are said to have clashed over is transfers. Totti has often inserted himself into Roma's market strategy, getting on the phone to convince players to come to the club.
"Maybe I told him that he should worry himself with the transfer market. It was a question of roles," Spalletti admitted.
