Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes Ashley Young is in good enough touch to land an England call-up.
The 29-year old winger has been in fine fettle under Louis van Gaal in recent months and another top showing in United's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday suggests to Smalling that Roy Hodgson's phone call won't be too far away.
"With his performances people will always be looking. He was terrific. Every time he got it he looked like he was going to beat his man," said Smalling of his teammate.
"He's been a real threat the last few weeks. It could be a confidence thing and the manager showing faith in him. 'I think it's the unpredictability he's got.
"I think England could always do with a player like that and he's been there before and I'm sure he won't be far off."
