Young admits Watford connection convinced him about Everton

Ashley Young admits the presence of Sean Dyche was key to joining Everton.

Young played with Dyche at Watford.

“When I played alongside him I knew the way he saw football and the way he played football," he said. He has got a real passion for football and you can see that when he is on the touchline. I could tell that he was going to go into management.

"He's got that winning mentality, he has got that spark where he walks into the dressing room and everybody knows the manager is in the dressing room. He is a winner and everyone is on board. I think it is a good match, him and the club. All the players are willing to buy into what he has brought to the club."

He added: “The fanbase is fantastic and when you play against Everton at Goodison Park you know what the home fans are like so that was a pull - the fans, the manager, the players and the size of the club.

“The [Everton] fans are fantastic, loud, noisy, with the team, and if they see you giving everything for the badge they will give everything to you. I am looking to go out there and give 100% like I always do for the badge and hopefully this will be a good season.

"I think I made the decision before I even spoke to Sean - the decision was always going to be mine and when you get a chance to play for a big club like Everton it is a no brainer."
