Yokohama Marinos admit deadlock over Celtic's Nakamura

Yokohama Marinos talks with Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura have stalled. The 30 year-old was expected to sign for the J-League club this week but Marinos club president Masaharu Saito admitted "unforeseen problems" have stalled negotiations.

Saito told the local press the club has yet to hear from Nakamura's representatives, but is confident a deal will take place sooner rather than later.

"At this point in time we still have no answer from Nakamura's representatives. We have tried to put together the best offer we can and are just waiting for a reply," he told Japan Today.

"There have been unforeseen problems and that is why discussions are taking longer than first expected. But I believe we will soon get the answer we are hoping for."

Rumours suggest the Japan international received improved offers from Spain earlier this week, prompting him to reconsider his options.
