Yaya to be given new Man City contract

According to The Sun, Pep Guardiola has decided to hand Yaya Toure a year contract extension at Manchester City.

The 33-year old had not featured in the Premier League until November 19th after seemingly being ignored by his new manager.

Their early differences were played out in front of everyone. Guardiola accused Toure of being unfit and overweight, Toure's agent complained in the media about the Ivorian getting left out of City's Champions League squad – Toure was forced to apologise, albeit through his agent – and a parting of ways at season's end looked like a formality.

However, despite all the madness, Toure has become a prominent figure in Pep's side since Ilkay Gundogan went down injured in December. Guardiola even went as far as to call Toure's form 'outstanding' last week.

With Pep supposedly preparing for a huge summer in the transfer market, Toure would count himself lucky if he remained at Manchester City beyond this season.
