Departing Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves received a short tribute from coach Xavi today.

Alves has released a lengthy farewell letter on social media after he was informed on Wednesday that he wouldn't be offered a new deal.

In response, Xavi posted: "EXAMPLE in every sense of the word. Thanks for your friendshp."

Several teammates also took the opportunity to thank Alves, not only answering his letter, but also with personalised posts dedicated to the Brazilian.
