Wycombe Wanderers are closing in on the signing of Sam Vokes from Stoke City.

Football Insider reports Wycombe are now holding advanced talks with both Stoke and Vokes about the transfer.

The 31-year-old was linked to Shrewsbury Town, also in League One, on loan in June.

That move did not materialize, and Wycombe are now favourites to secure Vokes' signature.

Wycombe are keen to add a striker after their relegation from the Championship and the subsequent sale of Uche Ikpeazu to Middlesbrough.
