Wolves striker Griffiths reacts to Hibernian taunts

Hibernian striker Leigh Griffiths has spoken out about the negative online treatment he has received recently.

The on-loan Wolves ace has scored 27 goals for the Hibees this season but has had to deal with a number of cretins on Twitter who have threatened he and his family's well-being.

Griffiths says it has not been easy retorting to the abhorrent messages and said he has decided to deleted his Twitter account in order to get away from the negativity.

"I have reacted to a lot of things which were said to me on Twitter," he told SunSport.

"The only way the public could see the abuse I was getting was if I retweeted it, which I did.

"I've had to put up with a lot of abuse and some have wished my unborn baby dead. My girlfriend, Linzi, is expecting this summer.

"They say stuff about all my kids but this was a step too far.

"I can't deal with it and that is why I have come off Twitter.

"If it was anyone else who reacted to them no one would say anything - but they know they will get a reaction from me.

"I'll hold my hands up. I have said stuff I shouldn't have said but that's me off it.

"I can take banter, even from (Edinburgh rivals) Hearts fans. But there's a difference between banter and abuse.

"It is wrong when it goes too far and a lot of folk have gone too far with it."
