Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves feels winning the pre-season Premier League Asia Trophy is good for their mentality.

Wolves beat champions Manchester City to win the final following a penalty shootout in China.

Neves said, “Of course, we know Man City already. They are a really big team and play really well. We played well, very organised without the ball, trying to go on fast attacks when we could. Fortunately, we won the tournament.

“It was a big different, of course (to the Newcastle game). We know City are a team that likes to have the ball all the game. We had to prepare ourselves for that, but I think we did it well and we are happy to win.

“It was a great tournament for us, playing against very good teams. I think we've prepared ourselves good and now we're thinking of the first official match in the Europa League.

“The winning feeling is what gives you motivation for the future. We've won our first tournament, it was a friendly tournament, but we won it and it's very good for us and the club."
