Wolves boss Mick McCarthy loves proving people wrong.

McCarthy was willing to fight his own supporters recently after they turned on him in the 2-2 draw with Swansea.

That siege mentality - and the dry Yorkshire humour - was in evidence as he was inducted into the League Managers' Association Hall of Fame.

McCarthy said: "Did I ever think that growing up in Barnsley, Mick McCarthy, miserable as a seaside donkey at Blackpool, would ever end up doing what I am doing? No.

"And the reason for that was everybody was telling me I wouldn't be doing it. So to all those people - ha, ha, ha!"
