Wolves manager Terry Connor played down his influence in their fight-back to draw 2-2 at Newcastle United.

Papiss Cisse turned home Cheick Tiote's shot to claim his second goal in as many home games for his new club, and then Jonas Gutierrez increased the Magpies' lead with a blistering 18th-minute strike from distance.

But it was a different story after the break as Wolves took advantage of a lacklustre display by their hosts to drag themselves back into the game.

Matt Jarvis' 50th-minute shot, which looped over goalkeeper Tim Krul after clipping full-back Danny Simpson, reduced the deficit, and Kevin Doyle snatched an unlikely point when he reacted first to stab home the loose ball after Mike Williamson had headed Jamie O'Hara's free-kick straight at him.

Asked what he had said at half-time, Connor replied: "I didn't really change it around. It was the same team and the same outlook.

"In the first half, I don't think we played badly, we just conceded two very sloppy goals.

"The message really was to keep on doing what we were doing with a little bit more quality, but don't shoot ourselves in the foot and give a third one away.

"If we got the next goal, we always felt there was a possibility of getting back to 2-2."
