Philipp Wollscheid is delighted with his move to Stoke City.
The 25-year-old centre-half says he already knows plenty about his new club because of fellow German Robert Huth's five-and-a-half seasons at Stoke.
"The German press, because of Robert Huth, was already talking last year a little bit about Stoke, and of course I know the Premier League.
"I didn't know the town or where it was in Great Britain, but I know enough about the club to make a good decision to come here.
"There are several German speakers in the changing room. I was surprised that even Asmir Begovic was able to talk German. Five players in all. But every player welcomed me in a nice way. After the first session I am already comfortable here."
Wollscheid has played twice for Germany in the past, but is reticent on his immediate prospects of a recall after relatively little playing time back home.
"Of course this is always in the back of my mind," he said, "but first I am looking forward to having a good time and working hard with this team. We will see."
