Wolfsburg are waiting for the green light from Arsenal to open talks for Per Mertesacker.
The Sunday Express says Wolfsburg are considering a summer move for Mertesacker. The Germany international, 28, has been criticised for his Gunners performances but is still highly rated in his homeland.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's pursuit of Swansea's Ashley Williams could pave the way for Mertesacker to head home.
