Windass grateful to Hull management for farewell game

Dean Windass has thanked Hull City for his successful farewell game against Aberdeen yesterday.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "It's just a fantastic gesture from Paul Duffen, Phil Brown and everyone at Hull City that they gave me this game.

"The icing on the cake was the Aberdeen fans coming down because I didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye to them in 1997-98."

Deano returns to action tonight for Darlington in their Carling Cup first-round tie against Leeds United to complete three outings in three days after playing in the Quakers' first match of the season at Aldershot on Saturday.

He said: "Darlington have a massive game against Leeds in the Carling Cup, it's live on television and the players are looking forward to it.

"I've had my warm down and I'll be ready to face Leeds now!

"I played 90 minutes on Saturday and I felt OK. It was a very good Aldershot team and they passed the ball very well."
