Williams on target as Middlesbrough bounce back to winning ways

Rhys Williams scored the opening goal as Middlesbrough returned to the winners list in the English Championship on Saturday.

Boro dropped their midweek game 2-0 at Nottingham Forest without Williams and fellow Australian Scott McDonald but were able to move into second on the table with a 2-0 victory over Derby County at the Riverside Stadium.

The Socceroos midfielder/defender put his side ahead on the stroke of half-time when he turned in Justin Hoyte's initial effort from close range before Marvin Emnes recaptured his goalscoring form with his sixth of the season and first in six outings.

McDonald, who has only scored on one occasion in the league so far this campaign, was very busy for Tony Mowbray's side and had a few attempts but again failed to hit the target although it won't matter to him as long as the Teessiders remain up near the top of the table.
