Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is keen on Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell.
The People says Bruce wants Campbell as part of the deal for Luis Antonio Valencia.
Bruce has spoken to Sir Alex Ferguson about the £18million transfer of Ecuadorian winger Valencia - and wants the England under-21 ace in part-exchange.
Campbell, 21, is on loan at Tottenham this season as a makeweight in the Dimitar Berbatov deal - and he could be used the same way by Reds chief Fergie in the summer.
The pacy forward, who has made his name on loan spells at Hull City and now Spurs, is emerging as a key factor in the Valencia move. Bruce missed out on Campbell at the start of the season.
