Wigan Athletic are eyeing Feyenoord striker Mitchell te Vrede.
Voetbal International says Wigan have opened talks with Feyenoord about a January deal for the 23 year-old forward.
The Latics had initially sought a loan deal, but Feyenoord chief Martin van Geel is insisting on a straight sale.
Wigan are now planning to accelerate the sale of Shaun Maloney to Leicester City to help fund a bid for Te Vrede, who is rated at over €1 million by Van Geel.
Te Vrede has spent the past two and a half years with the Rotterdam giants.
