Wigan Athletic are swooping for Barnsley fullback John Stones.

The Mail on Sunday says Wigan are set to beat Chelsea, Sunderland, Manchester City and Everton to sign £3million Barnsley teenager John Stones.

The 18-year-old right-back has been impressive for the Championship club this season.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is confident of bringing him to the DW Stadium in January by promising him regular first-team football - something the big clubs are unable to do.
