Wigan's Caldwell urges Scotland players to turn around bad run

Gary Caldwell says the buck stops with the players in regards to stopping Scotland's negative slide.

The Scots are already out of the running for the 2014 World Cup after losing four of their opening six qualification matches and Wigan Athletic defender Caldwell feels it is up to the playing group to put things right in the remaining fixtures.

"It is tough. It is hard, you don't like losing games, it is difficult. The sequence of results is hard," said the Scotland stand-in skipper.

"I've found that at club level when you get on a losing run it is very hard to stop the slide.

"But we have put ourselves in this position, nobody else. As a group we have to bounce back and turn it round. It's a low. Every time you lose a match it feels low.

"But all you can do is pick yourself up and come back stronger and try to do better.

"We knew it was gone last Friday night when we lost to Wales, so Serbia was the start of building towards the Euro 2016 campaign.

"This group is tough and all the remaining games are tough.

"But all we can do is fight and give everything we have got every time we come away."
