Wigan defender Caldwell gets Scotland captaincy

Scotland manager Craig Levein has appointed Wigan Athletic defender Gary Caldwell as captain for tomorrow night's friendly with Slovenia.

The Latics skipper has been named as the new head for the Scots in the absence of Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher who is still sidelined by a chronic bowel condition and Cardiff City striker Kenny Miller who will start on the bench but despite that fact he is honoured to lead his country.

"Fletch is the captain and Kenny is the vice-captain so they are the men in possession and I am 100 per cent behind them, but to get it for one night will be special," said Caldwell.
