Wigan are close to completing a deal with Villarreal for striker Marco Ruben.

The Argentina star is expected to sign with the Latics for around £7million today after the two clubs agreed the fee.

The 23-year old, who has been capped at international level, is currently in Villarreal's reserves but comes to DW Stadium with a high rating.

In January 2008, Ruben joined Villarreal from River Plate for £3.5million and was immediately loaned out to Recreativo Huelva after beginning his career with Rosario Central.
