Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is a target for Athletic Bilbao.
The Daily Star says if the La Liga club can't land Wigan chief Martinez they will turn their attention to out-of-work Mark Hughes.
The news will rock Wigan and their owner Dave Whelan, who is desperate to keep hold of his highly-rated manager.
Martinez impressed last season as he helped Wigan escape from relegation after two wins and two draws in their crucial last four matches.
And as a result he is being targeted by Basque side Bilbao, who are losing their current manager Joaquin Caparros to Atletico Madrid.
