Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is leaning towards taking the Aston Villa job over Liverpool.
The Daily Mail says Villa have also approached Martinez about their managerial vacancy and held talks on Thursday - the same day Wigan chairman Dave Whelan gave him permission too also speak with Liverpool.
The discussions were positive, to the point Martinez is giving serious consideration to succeeding Alex McLeish rather than leaping into the highly-scrutinised role at Anfield.
