Wigan boss Mackay prepares for massive night against Cardiff

Wigan Athletic boss Malky Mackay is ready to face former club Cardiff City tonight.

The Scot steered the Bluebirds into the Premier League for the first time in their history before a spectacular falling out with owner Vincent Tan saw him axed in December 2013.

"It's never about proving a point, absolutely not," Mackay said ahead of their Championship clash at the DW Stadium.

"It's nothing other than three points, it's just another game.

"Right now we're doing nothing other than focusing and concentrating on ourselves. It's the only way that we're going to get out of what we're in right now.

"Managers get the sack, that happens.

"But there are some really good people that work there and I enjoyed my time down there and I was very proud of a lot of people down there.

"You make friends and you have special moments at every club you're at. They are the things you hold on to."
