Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan hopes Roberto Martinez will stay to lead them into Europe next season.
Whelan is convinced the Spaniard will go one day, but hopes the prospect of leading them into Europe will convince him to stay for at least one more year.
He said: "I always know and expect that one day one of the top clubs in Europe will come and take him off us. I have always said that.
"When it happens it will be a sad day for Wigan. But I don't think it will happen this year - especially with us getting to the final."
