Former Crewe Alexandra captain Ashley Westwood is drawing inspiration from David Platt at Aston Villa.
Westwood became the first Crewe player to join Villa since Platt in 1988 when he completed a £2 million move from Gresty Road to Villa Park hours before Friday's deadline.
"I'll be happy if I can get anywhere near to that kind of level," Westwood told the Birmingham Mail.
"You know the players who have come through and I'll take it in my stride, but if I can be half as good as him then I'll be happy.
"I've been told what a great player he was for Villa and I'm here to try and do my best for this club too.
"It's something I'll just have to take on my shoulders if that's the challenge people are setting for me.
"He was a very good player and he's gone on to become a good coach at Manchester City but I'm just concentrating on my career and hopefully I can do well at Villa too."
