West Sydney's A-League consortium ready to make a bid

The bid for a West Sydney team in the A-League is ready according to businessman Joe Meissner. The 66-year old is the head of the consortium that plans to launch a bid for an A-League club in Sydney's west and after receiving sufficient financial backing, is intent on getting the ball rolling.

"We are now in the position to make a bid, it's as simple as that," Meissner said.

"We've met Ben Buckley, we've been given advice, we acted on that advice, we've gone to our backers, and now we're ready to go.

"Obviously there are protocols to follow, that's up to the FFA. But we've been hanging out for three weeks, and we'd like to move sooner rather than later. I am getting impatient because we've worked it all out, and we're ready to make our move."

"We've done the sums and I'm pleasantly surprised that the losses won't be as much as we initially expected," he added.

"We fully expect to make losses in the first three years but hopefully by the fifth year we'll cut square."
