West Ham willing to wait until January for Chamakh

West Ham United hope to revisit their bid for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh in January.

The Daily Mail says West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has given up on luring Chamakh to Upton Park before the transfer window closes today but could renew his pursuit in the Bordeaux striker in January.

The Hammers, who are selling defender James Collins to Aston Villa, are still hopeful of bringing more firepower in before the 5pm deadline.

But they have been unable to tie up a deal for Morocco hitman Chamakh, who was also interesting Arsenal.

Chamakh is out of contract next summer but is likely to be available at a knockdown price in January.
