West Ham target Anelka warns: No financial sacrifice

West Ham target Nicolas Anelka has warned clubs keen on signing him that he will only leave Bolton if they match his financial demands.

The Hammers, both Manchester sides United and City and Portsmouth and have all been linked with moves to sign the French international before the transfer window closes at the end of next week.

Interested clubs are said to have been told they can sign Anelka for £9 million thanks to an escape clause in his contract and the striker refused to rule out the possibility of leaving the Reebok Stadium, but insisted that he will not take a drop in wages, reported to be around £60,000 a week, in order to do so.

Anelka told French newspaper L'Equipe: "A lot of clubs are interested but they give up as soon as they realise my salary is big.

"I'm not prepared to make any sacrifices on a financial level. I know my level and my quality. I will not accept any offer."
