West Ham legend Di Canio applies for Bolton job

Former Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has applied for the Bolton Wanderers job.

The Telegraph says Di Canio, dismissed by Sunderland in September last year after just 13 games in charge at the Stadium of Light, is understood to have applied for the vacant position at the Macron Stadium.

But the Italian will not be considered by chairman Phil Gartside and Bolton owner Eddie Davies, who are keen to pursue an appointment with a connection to the club who are currently marooned at the foot of the Championship table after just win league all season.

The West Ham United legend has been out of work since his sacking by Sunderland last season.
