West Ham United goalkeeper Ruud Boffin admits he spoke to his mental coach before impressing on his Premier League debut at Blackburn Rovers.
Boffin impressed in a 1-1 draw, and he has now thanked his shrink for helping him ease the pressure on Avram Grant's bottom-placed side.
"I found out on Friday that I would be starting the game, as Robert Green was not fit," the 23-year-old said. "I spoke on the phone to my mental coach back in Belgium, and he gave me advice on coping without too much stress after the kick-off.
"The manager told me that I began the game nervously, but got better. I also got praise from my teammates.
"I had never expected that things would go so quickly for me. Everything has happened very fast in my career. Green should be back in the team next week, and the second-choice keeper is expected to be fit again soon, so I don't know what the future will hold for me."
