West Ham have informed Athletic Bilbao they intend to pay the buyout clause of Unai Nunez.
AS says the Hammers have communicated to Bilbao they will meet the €30m option in Nunez's contract to bring him to London in January.
Nunez, 22, is ready to leave Bilbao after finding himself on the fringes of the first team this season behind fellow defenders Inigo Martinez and Yeray Alvarez.
The stopper is tied to Bilbao until 2023, but can leave immediately should a club meet his buyout clause.
Along with West Ham, Bayern Munich are also keen with it emerging that agent Giovanni Branchini has offered Nunez to the German giants.
Bayern are reluctant to pay the clause, but would be willing to include veteran Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez in their offer.
