West Ham United fans made their voices heard as Craig Bellamy saluted them at the end of yesterday's 4-1 victory over Portsmouth.
As the Welsh striker was the last player to leave the pitch the words 'Don't go to Tottenham' were ringing in his ears from the 4,000 travelling east London supporters, who were given a Boxing Day treat.
In Bellamy's wholehearted performance they could see hope of Barclays Premier League survival despite the club's dire financial straits.
But it may well have persuaded Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to improve his initial £6million offer to a figure which West Ham simply cannot afford to turn down.
