West Ham defender Byram a surprise Arsenal target as Barcelona eye Bellerin

West Ham United defender Sam Byram has emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

The report claims that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will target the 22-year-old if Barcelona succeed in signing Hector Bellerin.

Barcelona are actively looking for a replacement for Dani Alves, who has departed for Juventus, and have identified Gunners right-back Bellerin as their number one target.

However, the Spain international has a contract until 2019 with the Gunners, and it is very unlikely that Wenger will let go of one of his most promising players this summer.

If by chance Barca succeed in their pursuit of the 21-year-old, Wenger may turn his attention to the talented Byram who joined the Hammers from Leeds United in January.
