West Ham United have a deal in place for Spartak Moscow midfielder Radoslav Kovac.

The Independent says an announcement is expected today after the clubs agreed terms on the 29-year-old Czech Republic international who can play in midfield or central defence.

Club sources revealed last night that a deal, thought to be a loan with an option to buy in the summer for £4m, had been agreed.

One of Kovac's agents, Viktor Kolar, told the website sport.cz: "I can confirm that both clubs have reached a verbal agreement."
