West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has hailed the work this season of manager Sam Allardyce.
Sullivan admits there's a lot of optimism now running through the club.
He told the London Evening Standard: "There is a lot of optimism about the place now and I genuinely believe we have the best squad since we've been at the club. We've signed some high-energy, younger players and we have discovered the 'West Ham way'.
"That first-half performance against Liverpool was the most satisfying 45 minutes since we became involved. We were quick, tough - we scored goals - and that is the intention this season, to score as many goals as we can. As a result we have only kept one clean sheet but the exciting thing is that, with the exception of the Southampton defeat where we didn't turn up, we could well be on 18 points now, instead of 10.
"That was the watershed game and full credit to Sam [Allardyce], he changed the style after that to a diamond formation. Sam made that decision so he deserves the accolades because, had it not worked, he would have been castigated."
