West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola was happy to see Craig Bellamy in action for Saturday's defeat to Hull City.
The Welshman looked lively in his first league start for a year but Zola has urged patience as the Welshman settles back into match fitness and seeks to recover his renowned scoring form.
Zola said: "Craig has done well but I know he can play much better. You can't ask too much from him after such a long time out but we really rely on him a lot because he is an important player for us.
"I was pleased with him, especially in the first half. I didn't expect him to be at his best but I am confident he will be back soon with his best performances for us."
