West Ham boss Moyes admits passing on signing Brighton striker Welbeck

West Ham boss David Moyes admits passing on the signing of Brighton striker Danny Welbeck.

The Hammers boss has revealed he considered signing the free-agent striker after he terminated his contract with Watford in October.

Welbeck, 30, came off the bench to score Brighton's late equaliser against Sheffield United last Sunday.

And Moyes admitted: "Danny was someone who I did consider. I was probably just a little concerned about his injuries in the past more than anything else.

"But I am really pleased for him because I enjoyed working with him at Manchester United. He is a great boy and so enthusiastic.

"He is a good footballer who has worked hard on his game and has been doing well for Brighton."
